The Art of Self
Publishing
Do you
dream of writing a book? Do you have a story to tell? Perhaps you
have already written a book and you are looking for a publisher. Now
what?
Assess your
market: This can be the hardest part of all. You must
ask yourself honestly: Who will want to read my book? What do I
expect them to get out of it? Who will buy it (target your
audience). How will I reach them?
Edit:
This is more than letting your friends read it and make suggestions.
A professional editor can your book into a cohesive,
thought-provoking, professional work. It will give you an
opportunity to fine tune and clarify the important parts
of your book.
Design:
Face it. People do judge a book by the cover. The cover must be
professional, attract attention, make people want to pick
it up to see what's inside. Your designer should also understand the
printing process in order for the printed version to match the
intended design. The text should be professionally laid out
and correctly paginated.
Print:
This is where it gets expensive. You should consider several
different printers. Use only printers who specialize in books, you
will get a better price. Find out what book size your printer's
presses best serve. Example: Some printers can print an 5 3/8 x
8 3/8 size as their optimal size and asking them to print a 5 1/2 x
8 1/2 or a 6 x 9 book will be less cost efficient.
Marketing:
Now that your book is printed, Phase 2 of the work begins. By now
you already know who your market is. How do you reach them?
Distribution:
How do you get your books into the hands of your reader--besides one
book at a time?
Our goal
is to help individuals with an important message in the
non-mainstream Christian and Patriot communities self-publish their
books and get the marketing, public relations, and distribution they
need. We can assist you on your book, or handle your book turn-key,
or any portion in between. We are a subsidy publisher (you pay for
the services you use.)
